Solid Hardwood Flooring

WoodFlooring

Hardwoods are possibly the greenest option available in flooring.  Our solid hardwood flooring is 100% FSC Certified, so we guarantee that your floors are coming from forests that have been sustainably managed and harvested.  Additionally, all of the species we stock come from local forests in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin or Minnesota.  Our hardwoods are available pre-finished or can be custom stained and finished on site using formaldehyde free materials.  All of these features combine to produce beautiful floors that will last a lifetime.

Our hardwood flooring is available in three standard grades: Select, Premium and Conservation Grade. All three grades are extremely durable, and are specified to achieve a specific look within a space. Select is considered the highest quality of wood available. Select wood has minimal color variations, the fewest knots, and the most desirable grain patterns. Premium wood has a wider range of color variation with some knots and a greater mix of grain patterns. Conservation Grade is also sometimes called “rustic” because of its rustic appearance. This grade has the most dramatic color variations and will include many more knots.

Maple:
Maple is a light colored wood with a wide grain pattern that takes stain very well. It is also beautiful in its natural state with a clear sealant applied to it. It is a popular choice for many contemporary spaces. Maple tends to have slight pinkish and yellow tones.

Cherry:
Cherry is a golden red wood with a tight grain. It can easily be stained darker, but is more often valued with a clear coat because of the natural rich red color of the wood. Cherry is often found in traditional homes because of its inherent richness of color.

Birch:
Birch is another light wood that is often found in contemporary spaces. It is similar to maple in many ways. It takes stain very well, but is also beautiful in its natural state. While maple tends to display pinkish tones, birch reflects decidedly more yellow tones.

Oak:
Oak is probably the most commonly used hardwood for flooring. It has been used for generations and as a result, has a classic appeal. It takes stain well, but has a pronounced grain that affects the overall appearance of the wood. White oak is a very neutral brown while red oak tends toward a more golden tone.
